Our week for January 6-10, 2025

 

Wishing you all a very warm and happy holiday season.

Here are some reminders for when we return to school in the New Year.

1) Monday January 6 is a Day 1 of our cycle

2) Wednesday is Walk to School and it's a DENIM DAY SPIRIT DAY too!  Wear all the Denim that you can!

3) Thursday is Library (Day 4)

4) Our MWW words for Lesson # 43 are: Digraph words and Heart Words

Our sentences are:

1. The bin is so full. 2. I will go to the big mall.

Our Decodable passage is called Let's Golf 

Our MWW worksheet will be due back by Friday.

5) We went home with our Friday Letter and our Poetry Folder.  Both are due back when we return.

6) Our January Reading Log went home this week.  They can return their December Reading Log the first week back as well.  

Keep on Reading over the break and have lots of fun together.

Our week for December 16-20, 2024

 Hello Grade One Families:

It's a SPIRIT WEEK next week.  See below for what to wear on each day!

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle.

2) Library is on Thursday (Day 4)

3) Our MWW words for Lesson # 42 are (ff, ll, ss, zz words and Heart words)

Our sentences are:

1). I want to have less stuff.

2) Your doll fell off the desk.

Our Decodable passage is called Buzz Sells Milk

Our worksheet is due back by Friday.

3) We did a shared writing today of our Friday Letter.  We are learning to write in complete thoughts with our Recount.  We are learning to use a Writer's Checklist too.

4) We went home with our Assessment Folder too.  Please look at all the amazing work we have done and send the folder back to school on Monday.

5) Please dress your child appropriately for the weather.  We are outside weather permitting for 2 recesses.

Our week for Dec. 9-13, 2024

 Hello Grade One Families:

Rick Hansen is collecting boxed and bagged goods this week.  

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle.

2) We went home with our Friday Letter and our Poetry Folder.  We are to read the poem Kindness Counts with phrasing and expression.   We are to complete the sheet what kindness is to us.  It is due back by Monday.  We are learning to show randam acts of kindness.  

3) Our MWW words for Lesson # 41 are Short Vowel Review and Heart Words Review.

Our sentences are: 1. What did you get? 2. Look at the dog and cat run!

Our worksheet will be due back by Friday.  Our Decodable passage is called The Fox and the Red Hen.

4) Library is on Day 4 (Thursday)

5) Photo retake day is Friday December 13.

6) Please have your child be dressed appropriately for the day.  Extra mitts will be appreciated in their backpacks, as we love to play with snow and get them wet at first recess.  😀 Please make sure their indoor clothes/socks still fit.  We are growing like weeds. 

7) If you need to drop off a lunch for your child, please make sure that it is dropped off by 1pm.  We eat from 1-1:30 and we are outside from 1:30-2pm.

Our week for December 2-6 2024

 

Wednesday December 4 is PYJAMA DAY @ Rick Hansen PS!  Bring a stuffie too!  

It is also Walk to school.  There will be whole school outdoor DPA at 9:20 am for 20 minutes.  Please be dressed to walk outside.

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle.

2) Library is on Thursday Day 4 of our cycle.

3) Recognition Assembly is on Thursday December 5 @ 11:30am.  Those who are receiving an award have been notified with an invite in your child's agenda.  We recognized the character traits of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and PERSEVERANCE.  Congratulations to all those who received an award.  We are learning to make good choices even if no one is watching.

4) Our Reading Log for December went home.  Please continue to read and log and when completed bring back to school signed too.

5) Our December newsletter was emailed out through EDSBY.  Please take a moment to read over our learning goals for December.  Later on this month a SKIP Counting package will be coming home to support your child's learning.  

6) Please dress your child for the weather.  We are outside for 2 recesses weather permitting. 

Extra mitts in their backpacks will be beneficial for when our first pair gets wet at first recess. 🧤

7) Our MWW words for Lesson # 40 are: Short 'e' words and 💓words

1. I have ten pet hens. 2. Can you get a red pen?

Our Decodable passage is called The Pet Hen. Please put in their Blue Reading Folder at home.

Our worksheet is due back by Friday every week.  If your child is unable to complete at home, they are welcome to complete with me at school.  We build on our skills weekly so it is important we review and make our words work for us too.

We learned about Bullying this week, what to do about it and how we can make our world a better place by spreading KINDESS.  We are learning to think before we speak too.

5) Earth Rangers Presentation is on Friday

6) Chess Club is on Day 3 for Grade 1-3 @ lunch in the Learning Commons
