Hello Grade One Families:

Tuesday June 4 is our Summer Sizzler.  Festivities begin at 4pm and end at 7pm.  Come by for some fun!  Thank you to all who contributed to our Road Trip Basket.  Your generosity is very much appreciated.  

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 5 of our cycle.

2) Friday June 7 is a PA DAY - there is no school that day.  There will also be no MWW words next week. :)

3) Library books will be due back by Friday June 14.  Today was our last day for book exchange.  

4) Please dress your child appropriately for the weather, have lots of water, a hat and sunscreen too.  

5) We will be having a Rick Hansen Recognition Assembly on June 6th at 11:30am.  Those receiving an award have already been notified by invite in their child's agenda.  Congratulations to our recipiants!  Please make sure you are here by 11:20 to get a seat if you would like to attend.  

6) We went home with our Friday Letter and our June Reading Log too today.

7) We are learning to count coins.  We have a supplementary activity sheet that was sent home today called What's in your Wallet?  We are learning to group coins and use the 'count up' strategy.  This does not need to be returned.  However, work with coins and adding/subtracting will be beneficial throughout the summer.  

8) Wednesday June 5 is Walk to School Day as well as a SPIRIT DAY! It's SUMMER FUN DAY!  Wear summer clothes or bright colours.

9) POP UP SHOP!  Buttons and Bracelets for sale at first recess on June 4, 5, 6.  Buttons are $1 and Bracelets are $2.

Our week for May 27- May 31, 2024

Hello Grade One Families:

Time is flying!  We are learning lots and growing fast too!  Please make sure their indoor shoes still fit as well as their extra clothes at school too.

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 5 of our cycle.

2) Our MWW words for Lesson # 57 are:  Long 'e' words and heart words

Our sentences are: 

1) They should hike by the lake.

2) I will bake a cake for my class.

Our MWW worksheet will be due back by Friday. 

3) Library is on Day 4 (Friday).  We only have one more Library week then books will need to be returned for the summer.

4) Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, lots of water, hats and sunscreen too.

5) Our Assessment Folders went home with our Friday Letter, please look at all the amazing work we have done and sent back to school on Monday.

6) Summer Sizzler is now on Tuesday June 4 @ 4pm.  Please make note of the change of date.  Hope to see everyone there.  Thank you for all who contributed to our Road Trip Basket.  Your generosity is very much appreciated!

Our week for May 21- May 24

Hello Grade One Families:

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Victoria Day, there is no school.

2) Tuesday is Day 1 of our cycle.

3) Library is on Day 4 (Thursday) and there is Book Exchange too.

4) There are no MWW words this week because it's a short week. :)

5) Please dress your child appropriately for the weather.  We are outside weather permitting for 2 recesses.  We are in the Season of Hats and Sunscreen too.  If you send your child with Sunscreen I will make sure they reapply at lunch.  

6) Scholastic Book Fair is open after school on Thursday May 23 starting at 4pm and it goes till 5:30pm. 

Thank you for all those who contributed to our Class Road Trip Basket.  All donations are truly appreciated.  They have extended contributions until Friday May 24 if you still would like to contribute.

Our week for May 13-17, 2024

 

Our Road Trip donations are due by Friday May 17.  Thank you for all who have contributed so far.  It is very much apprecitated.  Donations of $10 are being accepted as well as any item useful for a fun family road trip that is new and unused.  Rick Hansen Summer Sizzler is on Thursday June 6 after school!  All are welcome!

Our week for May 6-10, 2024

Hello Grade One Families:

Please help us with donations for our Basket.  A letter went home regarding our theme.  We are collecting items that could be use for a FAMILY ROAD TRIP.  

Items you could donate are: 

-items valued at $10 or more  or a $10 cash donation

-activity books, drinks, chips, gum, travel mugs, markers, paper, note books, journals, crayons, snacks, stickers etc.

The deadline for donations is Friday May 17th.  All baskets will be on dispaly outside the Learning Commons on Wednesday June 5.  Rick Hansen Summer Sizzler Fun Fair is on Thursday June 6!

6) It is MENTAL HEALTH week at school next week. We will be able to engage in fun learning activities at Snack Recess every day of the week in the Learning Commons. Please see below:

The first week of May is Mental Health Week. The Healthy Schools Kids Club will be organizing several activities happening in classrooms throughout the day and at snack recess for students to participate in.
