Our week for January 5-9 2026

 


Our New Year's resolution will be to be more awesome than last year!

Here are some reminders for our first week back in January.  School resumes on January 5, 2026.

1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle, and it's Library.

2) We have new MWW words for the week, and our MWW worksheet is due back by Friday.

We also will be having a review test on all our heart words learned so far in January. 

Group A—Fizzle rule words (double consonant at the end of a word)

3) Please make sure that your child is dressed for the weather.  We are outside, weather permitting, for 2 recesses.  Extra clothes and mitts at school are recommended.

4) Our ROC trip is coming up on Wednesday, January 21.  A note of what we will need for the day to have fun will be sent home early in January.  Payment is due by Friday, January 15, 2026, on School Cash Online. 

5) Walk to school is on Wednesday, January 7, and it's a SPIRIT DAY too!  Jersey Day!  Wear any sports jersey you like.  

6) We went home with our Poetry Folder.  We are to read and write about how we can be kind at school, home and in our community.  Keep reading over the holidays and read and log too!
7) Our January Reading log went home this week.  December reading logs can be handed in the first week of January.
8) Please check the family weekly sent out via the school as there are pertinent information in it.  A new lunch order is on there for the next term.  
*We did not do a Friday letter this week.  We wrote a Special Me book to Ms. James instead. 😀

Our week for Dec. 15-19, 2025

 


It's SPIRIT WEEK at Rick Hansen next week!  An EDSBY email was sent out as well regarding this.

Monday- Hat Day/Crazy Hat Day

Tuesday- Division Day Colour- Primary are to wear RED
Wednesday—Festive Colours

Thursday- Classroom Spirit Day- we decided to wear our PJs and have a stuffie too!

Friday—Pajama Day again!  

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle, and it's Library.

2) There will be no MWW words for the week :)

3) Please dress your child for the weather.  We are outside, weather permitting, for 2 recesses. Extra clothes at school are welcome.

4) Our ROC trip is on Wednesday, January 21.  All forms are due back to school shortly, and payment is due by January 15.  A letter regarding what to bring will be sent out in January.  If you need another set of forms, please speak with me.  

*If you would like to attend, you will need to have a Vulnerable Sector Form.  If you have already done one, you'll need to fill out a declaration form.  Once both are at the office, I can give you the APPENDIX 1B form, which you will need the day of.  This is the ROC's permission form.  All students/adults need this to participate.  Parking is free, and it's a fun-filled day with your children too!  

5) We went home with our Friday Letter.  Please help read and send back to school on Monday.

6) We went home with our assessment folder too.  Please look at all the amazing work we have done and sent back to school on Monday.

7) When there is an inclement weather day and buses are canceled, students are to be picked up at the back of the school at Door C at 3:40pm.  

8) A great math website to help support our learning is mathville.com

At the top, click on All Math Games by Grade and have fun exploring!

9) 


We are in desperate need of Kleenex at our school.  If you are able to spare a box for our classroom, our noses would appreciate it!

Our week for Dec.8-12, 2025

 

Rick Hansen is starting our Boomerang Lunch on Monday, December 8.  This means that all containers/wrappers and uneaten food will be coming home to be properly disposed of and recycled at home.  ONLY school-bought food containers will be recycled at school.  More information about this has been shared via the family weekly.  If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.  
Our food drive will continue next week too.  Thank you to all who have contributed!

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

2) Please fill out and return the ROC permission forms as soon as you can.  Here is a link for you to explore more about how fun the ROC is.  If you cannot open, copy and paste into your browser.

If you would like to volunteer for our trip:

* A vulnerable sector form must be filled out.  If you have filled out one from previous years, you will need to fill out a declaration form.  Please speak with me about this if you would like to volunteer.  It is a very exciting and fun filled day for sure!  Once all forms are at the office, I will be giving you an APPENDIX 1B form from the ROC.  You will need this upon arrival.  All parents are free, and parking is free too!

5) We went home with our Friday Letter today.  Please read with your child and return on Monday.

6) Please dress your child for the weather.  Extra mitts/clothes at school will be helpful if our mitts get wet at first recess and our socks too!

7) Please remember to not bring toys from home :)
