Our week for May 25-29, 2026
We are recycling used markers/highlighters, pens, and whiteboard markers at school until June 15. Please look around your house and send to school with your children to dispose of at school. The ECO Team have an initiative to get those items out of our landfills!
Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.
1) Monday is Day 5 of our cycle.
2) Library is on Tuesday (Day 1)
3) Read, read, and read some more. Our monthly reading logs are due back this week. I only accept them up until the end or the first week of the new month.
4) We went home with our poetry folder. We are to read with our best expression and complete the activity on the back of the sheet. It is due back on Monday.

Happy Victoria Day on Monday, May 18. There is no school. School will resume on Tuesday, May 19!
Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.
1) Tuesday is Day 1 of our cycle, and it's Library.
2) We have no MWW words this week as it's a short week. :)
3) We went home with our Friday letter. Please read and return to school on Tuesday.
4) Continue to read and log too! Reading is vital for children because it builds essential language skills, vocabulary, and cognitive development. It fosters empathy, emotional regulation, and imagination while preparing them for academic success in school. Daily reading also strengthens the parent-child bond, providing stability and fostering a lifelong love of learning.

Our week for May 4-8, 2026
We will be having whole-school DPA too at 9:20 am, so please make sure we are dressed to be outside.
Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.
LUNCH DROP-OFF: If you drop off your child's lunch, please make sure it is here by 1pm. We eat from 1 to 1:30pm and are outside, weather permitting, from 1:30 to 2pm.
1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle, and there is NO library as there is an event taking place.
2) We did not have a Friday letter this week; we wrote our April recount instead. Please look at all the amazing work in our assessment folder and send it back to school empty on Monday.
3) We went home this week with our May Reading Log. Please continue to read and log. April reading logs will be accepted until the end of this week.
4) Our May newsletter was sent out via EDSBY. Please take a look and see all the amazing work we will be engaging in. We also went home with our Assessment Folder. All items can be kept at home.

3) Wednesday, April 8, is International Day of Pink.
The International Day of Pink (April 8, 2026) is a global anti-bullying and anti-discrimination event where kids wear pink to stand in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and promote kindness. Originating in Canada in 2007, it empowers youth to celebrate diversity, challenge social norms, and stop bullying.

5) We went home with our poetry folder. We are to complete the poetry activity sheet and return back on Monday.

Our Winter Walk Day is on Friday, February 20. Join us at the Johnathan Bales Parkette parking lot at 8:25 am and discover how fun walking to school can be. An email was sent out via our school about this event. This event also marks the start of our participation in the active school travel program. Please refer to the email if you would like to learn more.6) On Friday, February 20, we will be participating in a mini Winter Olympics at Rick Hansen PS in the morning. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to participate in outdoor rotations.
