Hello Families!
We finished our first full week of Grade One! We are getting used to our schedule and our routines. Here are some helpful reminders for our upcoming week. Remember that the Sharing Star is due on Monday, September 16, 2019.
1) Monday is Day 5 of our cycle and it's Library Day! Please return the library book in the bag and don't forget to fill in the bookmark too. :)
2) We wrote our Friday Letter today. Please remember to read it with your child and comment too :) Please return it on Monday.
3) On Monday you will receive a Folder called M.W.W. (Making Words Work). In it are our words of the week. The activity sheet is given on Monday and is due on Friday. There will be NO dictation of the words at the end of the week. We will be working with the words in various activities throughout the week. There will be no M.W.W. words on short weeks. Those are weeks with PA days or holidays.
Week #1 words Sight words and the 'at' family: the of and that cat mat sat hat
4) Please have your child dress for the weather. We are outside for 2 recesses weather permitting.
5) Save the dates:
Terry Fox Walk- Thursday, September 26 @ 9:30 a.m (dress for the weather that day). Pledges are ONLY accepted on-line and it is our hope that each student brings in a Toonie for Terry. Pledges and donations are being accepted until Wednesday, October 2, 2019. An email was sent out on Sept.10 with a link to donate.
Curriculum Night- Thursday, September 26 from 6-7pm.
Orange Shirt Day- September 30. Orange shirt day is the legacy of the St. Joseph Mission residential school. It grew out of Phyllis' Story of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission. We wear Orange that day to remember and keep the discussion going to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying.
6) PA Day- Monday, September 23, 2019. No school that day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or ask. Have a wonderful weekend with your children.
