2) We went home with our Friday Letter and our Poetry Folder. We are to read the poem Kindness Counts with phrasing and expression. We are to complete the sheet what kindness is to us. It is due back by Monday. We are learning to show randam acts of kindness.

7) If you need to drop off a lunch for your child, please make sure that it is dropped off by 1pm. We eat from 1-1:30 and we are outside from 1:30-2pm.

3) Recognition Assembly is on Thursday December 5 @ 11:30am. Those who are receiving an award have been notified with an invite in your child's agenda. We recognized the character traits of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and PERSEVERANCE. Congratulations to all those who received an award. We are learning to make good choices even if no one is watching.
4) Our Reading Log for December went home. Please continue to read and log and when completed bring back to school signed too.
5) Our December newsletter was emailed out through EDSBY. Please take a moment to read over our learning goals for December. Later on this month a SKIP Counting package will be coming home to support your child's learning.
6) Please dress your child for the weather. We are outside for 2 recesses weather permitting.
Extra mitts in their backpacks will be beneficial for when our first pair gets wet at first recess. ๐งค

3) Our Assessment Folders were distruted too. Please look through all our amazing work and send back empty on Monday.
4) Our Friday Letter went home. Please have your child read it to you and send back on Monday. We are learning to create sentences that make sense. We are learning to use capitals and punctuation too.

We have a copy at school that we read to self daily with. Please remember to fill in their Monthly Reading Log and send back after 20 days of reading! We get to pick from our surprise bucket.
There will be no dictation next week as Friday November 1 is Diwali.
4) Tuck Shop starts on Friday November 1. Information was sent out via the Family weekly. There are no cash sales available on Tuck Shop days.5) Our Friday Letter went home today, please help read with your child and send back to school on Monday.

Hello Grade One Families:
We wrote our Friday Letter as a Recount today. We are learning to write what happened in order. We are learning to write in complete sentences too.
1) Monday is a PA Day, there is no school.
2) Tuesday is Day 3 of our cycle.
3) Wednesday is LIBRARY- Day 4 (Please make sure we have our Library books/bag so that we can exchange. There is limited time during the week to exchange besides our Day 4.
4) Gym is Day 2 and Day 5, please make sure we have appropriate footwear to participate.
5) There are no MWW words this week as it's a short week.
6) Our Poetry Folder went home today. We are to read our poem 5 Little Pumpkins with expression and complete the activity sheet. It is due back on Tuesday.
7) Thursday October 24th is Take Me Outside Day. We will be outside engaging in a Read Aloud called Fletcher and the Falling Leaves.

Next week we will be starting our MWW (Making Words Work) Program (aka Spelling). On Monday we will be writing our words out in our Agendas. We also will be bringing home a YELLOW DUOTANG called MWW (Making Words Work). We have a worksheet that will be due back by Friday.
In it, is a letter about our Spelling Program. Please read at your earliest convenience as it explains what we do each day to make our words work for us. There are supplementary activities as well if you'd like to expand their activities for the week.Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Your child went home with a Red Duotang called FRIDAY LETTER. In it is a parent note explaining why we do it. Please help support your child read it, sign it and return every Monday in their GREY BEE BAG.
2) Please return the GREY BEE BAG daily as we will put important Grade One notes in it.
3) We also went home with our LIBRARY BAGS. Our Library Day is Day 4 each cycle. Please enjoy reading picture books with your child. Our Reading Program will be starting shortly. More information about our Reading at school/home will go home shortly. Please stay tuned.
4) Monday is Day 5 of our cycle and it's Gym. Please have appropriate footwear to participate. Our Gym Days are 2 & 5.

Welcome to Grade One! I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year and am looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and fun. Starting a new school year is always an exciting time, and I’m honored to be a part of your child’s journey as they embark on this important milestone.
In our classroom, we will be focusing on creating a positive, nurturing environment where each student feels valued and motivated to do their best. We’ll explore many new concepts in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, while also fostering creativity, critical thinking, and social skills.
Communication is key to ensuring a successful year, and I want to work together with you to support your child's education. On the first day of school, your child will be bringing a BEE Bag (Bring Everything Everyday) to school bag home. In it, will be a letter to support our communication this year. This bag is to be returned every day to school.
