Hello Grade One Families!
Welcome to Grade 1. I am so glad to have you all here! Looking forward to a great year together. Today in your child's BEE Bag, there is a Student Information sheet. If you could fill out promptly and send back to school as soon as possible that would be greatly appreciated. We also went home today with our first Friday Letter. Every week we will write you a letter about our week at school. Please read with your child and send back to school every Monday. Feel free to write them back too! Please also be aware that we will require an Agenda. They are $6.50 and are available to pay only by school cash online. This will be a very important communication tool for us this year.
Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.
1) Monday is Day 5 of our cycle
2) We have Gym on Day 4 and Day 5
3) Library is on Day 4 of our cycle and will start this week.
4) I will send home notes/programming information periodically in your child's BEE bag. Please check nightly for any pertinent notes
5) We will be celebrating DOT Day on Friday September 15.
What is International Dot Day?
International Dot Day is celebrated every year on the 15th of September. This holiday was created by a teacher named Terry Shay back in 2009 as a way of celebrating creativity, courage, and collaboration. The whole event is inspired by a children’s book called ‘The Dot’, which is written by Peter H. Reynolds.
‘The Dot’ tells the story of an encouraging teacher and a student who does not believe in her own abilities. The teacher encourages the student to start small, believe in herself, and just see where it goes. What begins as just one small dot on a piece of paper, develops into a work of art and leads the student on a journey of confidence, bravery, and self-discovery. The story in ‘The Dot’ has been an inspiration to children and adults all over the world, and it plays a central role in the celebration of International Dot Day.
International Dot Day is designed to inspire creativity all over the globe, showing people, both young and old, that there is beauty, power, and great potential in creativity.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or ask.
Looking forward to a great year together!
Have a wonderful weekend with your children.
