Hello Grade One Families:
We will be celebrating Orange Shirt Day on Friday. It's a day to honour children that survived residential school, and to remember the lives that were lost. Wearing orange is a symbol of respect and mourning. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is on Sept.30. We honour this day as Every Child Matters.
Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.
1) Monday is Day 4 of our cycle and it's Library. We will be allowed to choose 2 Picture books per week.
2) Our MWW (Making Words Work) aka Spelling is starting on Monday. We will be learning how to decode and encode 10 words per week. Our worksheet will be due back by Friday each week or Thursday if it's a short week. Thank you for being partners in our Spelling and Reading Journey!
Our weekly words are: Short 'a' words and Heart Words

A Monthly Reading Log will be sent home shortly for October. I highly recommend your child to read at least 10 minutes/night. More information on this will be sent home shortly.
