Welcome Back to School!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Grade One! I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year and am looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and fun. Starting a new school year is always an exciting time, and I’m honored to be a part of your child’s journey as they embark on this important milestone.

In our classroom, we will be focusing on creating a positive, nurturing environment where each student feels valued and motivated to do their best. We’ll explore many new concepts in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, while also fostering creativity, critical thinking, and social skills.

Communication is key to ensuring a successful year, and I want to work together with you to support your child's education.  On the first day of school, your child will be bringing a BEE Bag (Bring Everything Everyday) to school bag home.  In it, will be a letter to support our communication this year.  This bag is to be returned every day to school.

To help make the first few days of school smooth for everyone, please make sure your child comes to school with the following:

  • A healthy snack and lunch
  • A water bottle
  • Indoor shoes marked with their name inside
  • Extra clothes in a clear ziplock labelled with their name on it (to be left at school for occassional accidents or if we get wet or muddy) 😄
  • Any completed forms or paperwork that were sent home
Thank you for entrusting me with your child’s education. I am looking forward to a fantastic year filled with learning adventures. Together, we can make this year a wonderful and successful experience for your child.

Kind regards.

Our last week of Grade One!

Dear Parents,

As we come to the close of an exciting and productive school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your unwavering support and partnership. It has been a true pleasure to watch your children grow and develop over the past year.

Highlights of the Year:

  • Academic Growth: Your children have made incredible strides in reading, writing, and math. Their curiosity and enthusiasm have been inspiring, and they’ve achieved so much in a short time.
  • Social Development: It's been wonderful to see friendships bloom and social skills improve. We've focused on kindness, sharing, and teamwork, which are crucial at this stage.
  • Creativity and Critical Thinking: The students have engaged in numerous creative projects and problem-solving activities, which have helped them develop important critical thinking skills.

Summer Tips: To maintain this momentum, I encourage you to engage your children in activities that reinforce their learning. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Reading: Regular reading is essential. Visit the local library, and let your child choose books that interest them.
  • Math Games: Play fun math-related games to keep their skills sharp.
  • Exploration: Encourage curiosity by exploring nature, science experiments, and creative arts and crafts.

Looking Ahead: As your child transitions to the next grade, know that they are well-prepared for the challenges and adventures that lie ahead. They have a strong foundation and the skills needed to succeed.  Next week I will be sending home a letter to help support, Reading, Writing and Math skills over the summer.

Thank you once again for your trust and cooperation. It has been an honor to be a part of your child's educational journey. I wish you all a wonderful, restful summer and look forward to seeing the amazing things your children will accomplish in the future.

Warm regards,

Mrs Petramala
