Our week for January 3 - 7 2022

Hello Families:
Today your child went home with their Friday Letters, Poetry Folders, Assessment Folders and indoor shoes too.  Please make sure they bring them all back in January.  Reading, writing and having fun over the holidays would be beneficial.
Here are some reminders for when we return:
1) Monday January 3 is a Day 1 of our cycle.
2) Thursday Day 4 is Library 
3) Day 4 and Day 5 are our Gym days.  Dressing appropriately will be beneficial so we can participate fully.
4) Our MWW words for Week # 10 are:

Reminders: When dropping off your children for school in the new year, please do not park your car.  Parking spots are reserved for Staff and visitors only.   Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Our week for Dec. 13-17

 Hello Families

Today your child went home with a Rapid Antigen Testing  Kit.  Instructions will be enclosed.  A letter from the school was sent out earlier this week with information pertaining to this package.  If you child purchased candy grams they will be distributed on Friday December 17.

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle.

2) Library will be on Thursday (Day 4) of our cycle.

3) Our MWW words for Week #9 are:

4) Our Random Acts of Kindness is due on Monday December 13.  Your child will have the opportunity to share their story with the class.  I will create a homemade book to be left in the classroom for the children to enjoy!

Our week for Dec.6-10

 Hello families:

There is a lot happening at our school next week.  The Food Drive is on until Dec. 15.  Any non-perishable food items or toiletries are appreciated.  We also will be holding a Winter Coat Drive and Gift Card Drive as well.  Candy Grams will be on sale too.  More information about this will be sent home via the Family Weekly.  Thanks in advance for your support.

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle.

2) MWW words for Week #8 are:

Grade 1- by words but not sick kick brick stick (sight words and 'ick' family words)

Grade 2- the that them day may made was of if a Bonus: kindness polite

The MWW worksheet will be due by Friday.

3) Our Poetry Folder went home on Friday.  We are learning to be a kind and caring classroom.  We are to read the poem and list 3 ways we are kind.

4) Our Kindness stories are due back by Dec.13.  We are learning different ways to show random acts of kindness everyday!

5) Library is on Thursday Day 4 next week.

6) Please read and sign your child's agenda daily.

7) Please dress your child appropriately for the weather each day and have extra clothing items and masks too at school.

Our week for Nov.29-Dec 3

 Hello Families:

Today your children went home with their Poetry Folders.  We learned about Visualization while we read.  They are to draw pictures around the poem as to what they visualize when they read the words.  It is due back on Monday.

Picture Day is on Thursday December 2.  I believe it is individual pictures only.  

Here are some other reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 1 of our cycle.

2) Library will be on Thursday (Day 4) of our cycle.

3) Please have extra mitts/socks/masks at school.  We love to play in the snow and our socks seem to always get wet too ;)

4) Our Gym days are Day 4 & 5, please make sure your child has indoor shoes to participate fully.

5) Our monthly newsletter will be going home this week too.

6) Our MWW words for Week #7 are:

Our week for November 22-26

 Hello families:

It was so nice to speak and see all of you last week.  We have been working hard and learning lots in our Grade 1/2 classroom.

Here are some reminders for this week.

2) We have Library on Thursday Day 4.  We will be able to exchange our books this week.

Our week for November 15-18th

 Hello Families:

Please note that there will be no school on Friday November 19 as it is a PA Day.  A letter for interviews will be sent home next week.  If you prefer to do a phone interview, please let me know in your child's agenda and if you have to change the time please write in their agenda and we will decide on another time together.  Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.  Remember the sign up was in EDSBY.

1) Monday is Day 2 of our cycle.

2) We will not have any MWW words next week, it's a short week. 😊

3) There is no Library Book exchange next week either.  In our Library time (on Wednesday) we will be able to buy from the Book Fair.  I have posted the slide to our live stream in our google classroom.  Please look there for you to browse and buy virtually if you'd like to ahead of time.  Otherwise, your child will be able to purchase items next week live.

4) Our Gym days are Day 4 and Day 5.  Please make sure we are dressed to move and groove.

5) Please help your child dress for the weather.  We are outside weather permitting for 2 recesses.

Our week for November 8-12

Hello families:

Please note that the clocks ⏰ change back 1 hour on Sunday November 7, 2021.  You get 1 extra hour of sleep!

We will be learning all about Remembrance Day next week.  Lest we forget. 

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week:

1) Monday is Day 2 of our cycle.

2) Library is on Wednesday Day 4 of our cycle.

3) Gym is Day 4 and Day 5 of our cycle.  Please have your child dress appropriately for Gym those days.

4) Extra Clothes should be at school in a clearly marked bag.  We store them above our coat hooks.  

5) Please dress appropriately for the weather.  We are outside weather permitting for 2 recesses.  (extra mitts and masks would be appreciated too)

6) Our MWW words for Week #5 are:

Our week for Nov. 1-5

 Hello Families:

Monday November 1st is a SPIRIT DAY!  It is Pyjama Day!  We can wear our PJ's all day!  Please do not wear slippers.  We need appropriate indoor shoes for school.  

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1)  Monday is Day 2 of our cycle.

2) Library is on Wednesday Day 4. (please read the levelled reader for at least 10-20 minutes/day)

*a Monthly reading log will be sent home this week in your child's agenda.

3) Assessment Folders went home today.  Please look at all the wonderful work we are doing!  Please return on Monday.

4) Please read and return the Friday Letter too.

5) Our MWW words for Week #4 are:

Our week for Oct.25 - Oct 29

 Hello Families:

Today your child went home with a note about Halloween.  Please make sure you read it with your child.  We reviewed expectations today in class.  I can't wait to see them in their costumes! 

Here are some other reminders for our upcoming week:

1) Poetry Folder is due back on Monday.  We worked hard on reading with phrasing and expression this week!

2) Please read our Friday letter together and sign.  

3) Monday is Day 2 of our cycle.

4) Library is on Wednesday Day 4 of next week.  Please have your child read their levelled reader at least 3-4 times in one week.  Also you can read on Razkids or EPIC too.  Enjoy!

5) Please send extra water with us, we get thirsty....:)

Our week of Oct. 18-22

 Hello Families:

We will be talking about Safety at school all week and we will be going outside for a Story Walk on Tuesday October 19 in the afternoon.  Please have your child dress appropriately to be outside for our story walk that day.  It is PURPLE DAY on Thursday October 21.  Please wear something purple that day for our SPIRIT DAY!

Our Week for October 12-15

 Hello Families:

Please note there is no school on Monday October 11.  School will resume on Tuesday October 12.

Please also note that the Board has mandated Friday October 15 as an Asynchronous Day.  That means school will be closed to students and work will be posted online and there will be no live classes. Please work at your own pace and have fun learning with your child that day.

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week:

1) Tuesday is Day 3 of our cycle.

2) Wednesday is Library Day.  Please return the Library bag that day.  Your child will be bringing home 1 Picture Book and 1 Levelled Reader.  I strongly suggest nightly reading for 10-20 minutes each night.  Please reference to the Reading note that was sent home previously for suggestions as well.  Spending time with your child is truly invaluable.

3) Gym is every Day 4 and Day 5.  Please make sure we have appropriate footwear so we can participate fully.

4) Please read and sign your child's agenda daily.

5) There will be no MWW words this week.  It's a short week...:)

Our Week for Oct. 4-8

 Hello Families:

We will be discussing all that we are thankful for this week.  We will be writing our thoughts in a list and organizing our ideas in complete sentences too.  We are learning to 'THINK IT, SAY IT, WRITE IT and RE-READ to make sense.'

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week:

1) Our Poetry Folders went home.  Your child is to read the poem with phrasing and fluency and then sign their name.  Please make sure you return on Monday as it is part of their Learning Skills and Work Habits assessment.  

2) Please have your child read their Friday Letter to you as well.  This way we can engage with you of what we learned throughout the week.  Please return on Monday as well.

3) Monday is Day 3 of our cycle.

4) Tuesday is Library Day.  Please return their Library book so we can get another one.  Levelled readers will start after Thanksgiving.

5) Gym is Day 4 and Day 5.  Please have your child dressed appropriately so we can fully participate.  

6) Please read and sign your child's agenda nightly and return in their BEE bag everyday.

Our Week for Sept. 27-Oct.1

 Hello Families:

We had a great week of learning and are excited about Fall!  Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 3 of our cycle.

2) We have Library every Day 4.  Please return the Library bag each Day 4 so we can pick another book. 

3) Gym is every Day 4 and Day 5.  Please have appropriate foot wear so we can participate fully.

4) Thursday is Orange Shirt Day.  Please wear orange.  

Orange Shirt Day (September 30th) is a day when we honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada and learn more about the history of those schools.

5) Our Terry Fox Walk will be held on Friday October 1.  Please dress appropriately for the weather as we will be outside walking for Terry.  

6) Please have your child read their Friday Letter to you and return it back to school every Monday.

7) Please read and sign your child's agenda nightly as important notes and items go in there.

8) Please make sure we have lots of snacks, masks and water for our day.

 Hello Grade 1/2 Families:

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Please bring their BEE bag with their agenda and red Friday Letter in it.  

2) Please make sure they have extra clothes at school for those occasional accidents.  Please clearly label a bag with their name on it.  INDOOR shoes too please.

3) Please have lots of water, we get thirsty.

4) We participate in Boomerang lunches.  What comes to school goes back home too every day.

5) Monday will be Day 3 of our cycle.

6) Looking forward to seeing them all again on Monday!

Our week of Sept 13-17 2021

 Hello Grade 1/2 Families:

I am so glad to have all of your children in my class.  I use this blog to aid in communicating what is going on in our classroom.  

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Bring your BEE bag everyday

2) Please read and sign your child's agenda daily.  All pertinent information goes in there

3) Please send extra clothes that can be left at school in a bag with your child's name on it.  We also need indoor shoes for daily wear and Gym too.

4) Please send extra masks too!

5) We get hungry and thirsty, so extra snacks and more water too!

We will be working on our School Rules next week and building our classroom community.

Our Week of March 1-5, 2021

 Hello Families:

This weekend your child went home with a collection of Poetry we have learned in class.  We will be having our Poetry Cafe on Tuesday March 2.  No need to memorize, we are learning to read with expression and fluency.  A Rubric was enclosed so you can see how your child will be assessed on their oral presentation.  Here are some other reminders for our upcoming week.

2) Our MWW work sheet will be due by Friday.

3) Our Science Show and share will be on Thursday March 4.

Our week for Jan.4-8 2021

Hello and Happy New Year!  I will be posting lessons on our google classroom this week.  We all know how to log on.  We have our username and password in our agendas. Please also reference the email I have sent you previously in the year as well to support the log on process.  I have made our google classroom  as user friendly as possible.  Please do not feel you have to print any pages.  You can always put on another piece of paper or do all lessons orally.   Please work at a pace that is best for your child and family.  I will be having a live google meet starting on Jan.5 at 11-11:30am to help support you in any way I can.  All your child has to do is on the home page click on the link at 11 am on Tuesday January 5 and we will be connected.  I too share a device with my youngest so that is a time that works for all.  You can always email me as well and I will get back to you as quickly as possible.  Here's to a great 2021!
