Our week for April 3-6, 2023

 Battery Blitz is coming to RHPS!

Help us celebrate Earth Month by gathering up all your used batteries and drop them off at the school starting April 3rd until April 28th. There will be collection bins in the front foyer of the school outside the library. Please place single use and rechargeable dry cell batteries (under 5kg) in clear plastics bags or cover battery ends with tape. There will be clear plastics available at the collection boxes. This is a student council initiative in partnership with Earth Rangers. Help us divert batteries from landfill and win money for the school!

Here are some other reminders for our upcoming week:

1) Monday is Day 2 of our cycle and it's Library day too!

2) There will be no MWW words this week, it's a short week. :)

3) Friday is Good Friday and Easter Monday there is no school.

4) We will be building our playgrounds all week long and presenting them on Thursday to our classmates.  It's going to be a great week being Engineers!

5) Monthly newsletter will be going home on Monday.

6) Please remember to sign and send back their permission forms for our Zoo trip as soon as possible.  Thank you 😃

Our week for March 27-31

Hello Families:

Thank you for those who have already offered to volunteer for our trip to the Zoo in April.  We have enough parent volunteers. Thank you.

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 2 and it is Library

2) Our Gym Days are 3 &4 and we need appropriate footwear to participate.

3) Our MWW words for Week #17 are:  sight words and 'et' family words

4) We went home today with our Poetry and our Assessment Folders.  Both are due back on Monday.

Our week for Monday March 20- March 24

 Hello Families:

March Break is from March 13- March 17.  School resumes on Monday March 20, 2023.

Here are some reminders for when we come back.

1) Monday March 20 is a Day 2 of our cycle and it's Library Day too.

2) Remember to Read and Log too!

3) Our MWW words for Week #16 are: sight words and "uck' family words

Our worksheet is due back by Friday.

4) Clocks change on Sunday March 12.  Time springs forward 1 hour.

5) Please collect materials around your house for our Playground Structure.  A note about our STEM project and rubric went home on Monday March 6.  If you need another one, please let me know or read below.

Attention:  Parents

Going on a Material Hunt

As part of our Materials, Objects and Everyday Structures unit, we are going to do a STEM project at school.  We are in need of materials to be brought to school by Friday March 31, 2023.  We are going to be Engineers and we are going to build a playground structure out of everyday objects/materials from home.

Some materials we are going to using could be:

-paper towel/toilet paper rolls

-canned tins (no sharp edges)

-popsicle sticks/pipe cleaners/straws/toothpicks

-milk/juice/tetra cartons (cleaned)

-tinfoil/wrapper containers/plastic containers

-loose parts

-paper/fabric/yarn/foam/felt

-lego pieces

-cardboard

-paper/plastic cups

-glue/tape/markers

-other (whatever they really want to use to be engineers) 🙂

I have enclosed a rubric of how we will be marked.  This is part of our final mark and we are learning to present orally in front of the class too.

We will use our Science words like:

-span a gap, contain an object, support a load, rigid, flexible,stable

I will provide the base of their playground (bristol board).   If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or ask.
