Our week for January 30-February 2, 2023

 Hello Families:

Friday February 3, 2023 is a PA Day there is no school that day.  There will be no MWW words next week.

Here are some reminders of our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 4 of our cycle.  

2) Thursday is Day 2 and it is Library Day.  Please keep on reading and logging their reading too!

3) Our Friday Letter went home today, please have your child read it to you.  We brainstormed our ideas together and we created our own sentences for our Recount of our week.  We are learning to THINK IT, SAY IT, WRITE IT and RE-READ to make sense.  :)

4) We will be getting our February Newsletter and February Reading Log next week.  

5) Term 1 Report cards go home later this month. :)

6) Spirit Day- Wednesday February 1 is PYJAMA DAY!

7) Thursday February 2 is Movie Night!  6pm in the Gym K-6 and Library for 7-8.  Hosted by our School Council.

Our week for January 23-27, 2023

 We are excited to have a Lunar New Year Lion Dance Show on Monday January 23, 2023 @ 2pm in our Gym.  All are welcome to attend!

Here are some other reminders for our upcoming week.  

1) Monday is Day 4 of our cycle.

2) Library is on Day 2 which will be on Thursday.

3) Our Poetry Folders went home this weekend.  Please have your child read our poem and complete the activity sheet with it.  It is due back on Monday.

4) Our Assessment Folders went home too.  Please look at all the awesome work we have done and how we can be more awesome in 2023!

5) Our MWW words for Week # 11 are:  sight words and 'op' family words

6) Our MWW worksheet is due back by Friday. 

7) Please have extra clothes and mitts at school.  Please ask your child if their indoor shoes still fit.  We are growing like weeds.

Our week for January 16-19, 2023

 Hello Grade One Families:

We had a great first back of school together!  Here are some reminders for our upcoming week. 

Monday is Day 5 of our cycle and Library is on Wednesday Day 2 of our cycle.

1) No MWW words this week. :)

2) It's a PA Day on Friday January 20- NO SCHOOL that day :)

3) We went home with our Friday Letters today.  We did a shared modelled lesson on a recount of our week.  We will be building on our ideas.  Our target is to THINK IT, SAY IT, WRITE IT and RE-READ to make sense.  We are learning to use a Writer's Checklist too!

4) We are skip counting in math.  We have finished by 10's and now are learning by 5's.  We will also learn by 2's as well.  A great tool to support our learning is https://mathville.com/gr1math.html

There are lots of skip counting games and other number sense games that are fun and engaging.  

5) Extra snacks and mitts are appreciated.  We're growing and we love to play in the snow too!
