Our week for February 27- March 3

 Hello Grade One Families:

We had a great week of learning!  Please note that report cards were sent out electronically.  You need to log into your child's gapps account to download.  Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 2 and it's Library day too!

2) Our MWW words for Week # 14 are sight words and 'ug' family words

Our worksheet will be due back by Friday.

3) Our Assessment Folders went home.  Please look at all the amazing work we have done.  All work can kept at home.  Please return empty on Monday.

4) Our Friday Letters went home too.  We are learning to do a Recount of our week.  We are learning to THINK IT, SAY IT, WRITE IT and RE-READ to make sense too.  We are learning to use a Writer's Checklist too. 

5) Please have extra clothes at school at all times for those occasional accidents or if we get wet playing outside.

6) Wednesday March 1 is Walk to School Day and it is a SPIRIT DAY TOO!  It will be PLAID DAY!  

7) Our monthly newsletter will be going home next week.

8) March Break is from March 13-17, school will resume on Monday March 20.

Our week for February 21-24

 Hello Grade One Families:

Pink Shirt Day is February 22, 2023.

Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. It has since been recognized annually worldwide as a day to stand against bullying.

We will be learning how to stand up to bullying and doing activities based on kindness.

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) There will be no MWW words this week. :)

2) Tuesday is Day 3 of our cycle.

3) There will be no Library exchange next week.  Day 2 is on Monday February 27.

4) Report cards will be distributed electronically through your child's gapps account.

Our week for February 13-17

Hello Grade One Families:

This week we will be celebrating Valentine's Day and 100th's Day too!  Please wear, red, white or pink on Tuesday.  If you are sending Valentine treats for others, please make sure they are peanut free.  We will continue to learn about important people around Black History too!  We are learning to show kindness and empathy to others, even if no one is watching.

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 3 of our cycle.  (Monday and Tuesday are Gym days)

2) Our MWW words for Week #13 are:  sight words and 'ut' family words

4) Our Assessment Folders went home too.  Please look at all our amazing work!  Everything can be kept at home. Please return the red assessment folder back to school on Monday.

5) Library will be on Friday Day 1.

Our week for February 6-10, 2023

 Hello Grade One Families:

Welcome to Term 2.  This week you will be receiving your child's assessment folder. Please make note of their expectations for their Reading and Writing Goals for Term 2.  Later this month, you will receive their Term 1 Report card.  We are learning to take risks and work to our full potential at all times. Our character trait for this month is Empathy.  We will be learning all about Empathy.  We will care and show respect to others even if no one is watching.  

Here are some reminders for our upcoming week.

1) Monday is Day 3 of our cycle

2) Friday is Day 2 and it will be Library Day.  Keep on Reading and logging their reading as well on our monthly reading log.

3) Gym is Day 3 and Day 4 of our cycle

4) Our MWW words for Week # 12 are:  sight words and 'ock' family words

5) Our Poetry Folder went home.  We are to read Grounhog Day with our best fluency and expression.

We will be learning about Black History Month and will have a read aloud on Monday from students in Ms. Kolade's grade 7 class.
